The Dell Latitude Rugged 5420 is a 14-inch laptop built for outdoor and industrial use. It runs an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with a 1.7 GHz base speed and 3.6 GHz turbo boost. The system includes 16 GB of DDR4 memory in two 8 GB modules and a 256 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display is paired with Intel UHD Graphics 620. Windows 10 Professional 64-bit comes pre-installed.

Simple setup with fixed memory layout

The laptop arrives ready to use with the operating system, drivers and a 51 Whr three-cell battery already installed. Memory occupies both SoDIMM slots in a 2 x 8 GB configuration, so any upgrade to the 32 GB maximum requires replacing both modules. The M.2 NVMe SSD is accessible for storage expansion. Wireless 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.2 connect automatically on first boot.

Limited by integrated graphics and single battery

Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles office applications and video playback but is not suited for 3D rendering or GPU-accelerated workloads. The single 51 Whr battery provides limited runtime away from mains power and there is no secondary battery option. Wireless 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.2 offer standard connectivity speeds for current peripherals and networks. The non-touch screen removes pen or finger input for field data entry.
