The Dell PowerEdge M640 blade installs two Xeon Gold 5220 processors running at 2.2 GHz with 48 GB of DDR4 memory. It is built for data centres that run virtualised workloads in a dense chassis. The PERC H330 controller manages the installed storage. Remote administration uses iDRAC9 Enterprise.

Fits virtualised server farms, not GPU workloads

This blade suits teams that need many CPU threads and up to 1 TB of DDR4 in a single slot. It does not serve buyers who need discrete graphics acceleration or more than two 2.5-inch drive bays. The integrated graphics and fixed bay count limit those scenarios.

Dual Xeon Gold 5220 CPUs with 48 GB DDR4

Two 5220 processors provide 18 cores each at 2.2 GHz with 24.75 MB cache per chip. Memory is DDR4 ECC registered and expandable to 1 TB. Storage ships as two 4 TB SATA 2.5-inch drives on the PERC H330 controller. Networking includes a 10 GbE 2-port 562T adapter.
