Blade Server for Dense Compute

The Dell PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade server built for virtualization, private cloud and high-performance computing workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 6154 processors, each offering 18 cores at 3.0 GHz with a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 32 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across four modules. This configuration targets environments that need high core density in a compact form factor.

Fits M1000e and MX Chassis

The blade installs directly into a Dell PowerEdge M1000e or MX series chassis, which supplies power, cooling and fabric connectivity. Two 2.5-inch drive bays are populated with 960 GB SATA SSDs managed by a PERC H330 controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50. A Broadcom 57810S-K dual-port 10 Gb daughter card provides network I/O. Sixteen DIMM slots allow memory expansion up to the platform maximum, freeing the builder from immediate capacity constraints.

Sustained Load with Integrated Management

Dual 18-core CPUs deliver 36 threads for continuous parallel workloads such as virtualization hosts or compute clusters. The H330 controller maintains consistent storage throughput under mixed read-write patterns across the SATA SSDs. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables remote monitoring, firmware updates and power management without host OS dependence, reducing operational overhead during extended production runs. The Matrox G200 graphics with 8 MB video memory provides basic console output only.
