The Dell PowerEdge R430 is a 1U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor running at 2.4 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and eight 300 GB 15K SAS drives managed by a PERC H730 RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Four 1 GbE ports and two PCIe 3.0 slots handle networking and expansion while iDRAC8 provides remote management.

Upgrading from older 1U platforms

This server replaces older 1U systems that lack hot-plug 2.5-inch drive bays or hardware RAID with 1 GB cache. The unit includes a DVD-ROM drive and rail kit but ships without an operating system.
