The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rackmount server built for business, data centre, virtualization, cloud and storage workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 2.1GHz 16‑core processors and 256GB of DDR4‑2666 ECC registered memory. A PERC H730P controller with 2GB cache provides RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 and pass‑through. Dual 550W platinum power supplies and iDRAC9 Express remote management are included.

Verify that your rack can accept a 1U unit and that power distribution can supply two 550W platinum PSUs. The chassis offers eight 2.5‑inch drive bays; this configuration arrives with eight bay fillers installed, so you must source compatible SAS or SATA drives separately. Confirm your network infrastructure supports the dual integrated 1GbE ports and that your operating system or hypervisor supports the PERC H730P controller.

Fillers rails and management access

The eight 2.5‑inch bay fillers occupy all front drive slots, meaning storage must be added before the server enters production. Front bezel and ready rails are not included, so you will need to supply mounting hardware and a bezel if required. iDRAC9 Express provides out‑of‑band remote monitoring and administration without an additional licence, while the PERC H730P battery backs cached writes during power loss.
