Dual-socket Xeon 6130 server

The Dell PowerEdge R540 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors. Each CPU provides 16 cores at 2.1 GHz with a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. The system ships with 32 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across four modules. It targets organisations running virtualisation, databases or file services that need expandable compute density in a standard rack footprint.

Chassis fits 8 hot-swap 3.5" drives

The 2U chassis accepts up to eight 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives through the included trays. A Dell PERC H330 controller manages the storage array at 12 Gb/s. Redundant 750-watt platinum power supplies and integrated dual-port gigabit Ethernet are fitted as standard. Sixteen DIMM slots allow memory growth to 384 GB. ReadyRails and a front bezel are supplied for immediate rack mounting.

iDRAC 9 Enterprise enables remote control

The integrated iDRAC 9 Enterprise licence provides full out-of-band management, including virtual console, power cycling and firmware updates without an operating system. This reduces the need for physical data-centre visits during deployment or troubleshooting. No operating system or hypervisor is pre-installed, so the software stack remains entirely at the administrator's discretion.
