Server purpose

The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rack server built for virtualisation, database and high-performance compute workloads. A single Xeon Gold 6138 processor delivers 20 cores at 2.0 GHz with 27.5 MB cache, backed by 64 GB DDR4 ECC registered memory. The chassis supports up to four 3.5-inch drive bays for local storage expansion.

Build and connectivity

The 36 x 24 x 10 inch enclosure houses a PERC H740P RAID controller managing SATA drives and a dual-port 10 GbE 562T network adapter for high-throughput connectivity. Dual 750 W power supplies provide redundancy, while iDRAC9 Enterprise enables full remote management. Integrated graphics handle console output without a discrete GPU.

Bundled value

Firmware and BIOS are updated to the latest stable release before shipment and each unit passes full diagnostics and burn-in testing. A rail kit is available on request to simplify rack installation. The server ships without drives, allowing the buyer to populate bays with the exact capacity and redundancy required.
