Dell PowerEdge R650xs 1U Server

This 1U rack server holds ten 2.5-inch drive bays and two Intel Xeon Gold 5317 processors. Each CPU runs at 3.0 GHz base with 3.6 GHz turbo across 12 cores. The system ships with 512 GB of DDR4 memory installed in 16 modules. A Dell PERC H745 controller manages the included 600 GB SAS drives. Dual 1400 watt power supplies and iDRAC9 Enterprise are standard.

Suited for dense virtualization

The ten-bay front panel and dual 12-core processors fit heavy multi-threaded tasks in a single rack unit. Buyers who need more than 1 TB of memory or more than two sockets should look elsewhere. Workloads that require GPU acceleration or NVMe-only storage pools are not addressed by this configuration. The 1GbE OCP card limits throughput for high-bandwidth clustering.

Storage limited to ten 2.5-inch SAS bays

The chassis provides exactly ten 2.5-inch SAS drive slots with no additional 3.5-inch or NVMe bays present. A PERC H745 controller with 4 GB cache supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across those drives. Expanding raw capacity beyond the installed 600 GB units requires populating empty bays with compatible SAS media. No internal M.2 or rear drive options are included.
