The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server built for dense compute workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 6338 processors, each offering 32 cores at 2.0 GHz with 3.2 GHz turbo capability. The platform targets virtualization, cloud infrastructure and high-performance computing environments. It is not suited for buyers who need GPU acceleration or larger 3.5-inch drive bays.

Front RAID Storage and Remote Management

Eight 1.8 TB 10K SAS drives connect to a PERC H745 controller with 4 GB non-volatile cache and battery backup. The controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 from the front-accessible bays. iDRAC9 Enterprise provides dedicated out-of-band management for deployment and monitoring. Builders who require NVMe-only arrays or more than eight front drives must look elsewhere.

DDR4 Memory Ceiling and Power Redundancy

The system includes 128 GB of DDR4 3200 MHz registered ECC memory across eight DIMM slots, with a maximum capacity of 1 TB when all 16 slots are populated. Two 1400 W platinum hot-swap power supplies deliver redundant power for continuous operation. Customers planning memory expansions beyond 1 TB or needing single-socket configurations cannot use this chassis.
