1U Dual-Socket Server for Dense Compute

The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Gold 6338 processors running at 2.0GHz with 32 cores each. It ships with 256GB of DDR4 3200MHz registered ECC memory across eight 32GB modules. Storage is handled by a PERC H745 controller with 4GB NV cache and battery, driving eight 1.92TB SATA SSDs. Dual 1400W platinum power supplies, iDRAC9 Enterprise, a Broadcom 57412 dual-port 10GbE SFP+ OCP 3.0 card, rails and bezel complete the build.

Virtualization Hosts and Cloud Nodes

This configuration suits teams deploying virtualization clusters, container platforms or high-density cloud infrastructure where core count and fast local flash matter. The single 1U height and redundant hot-swap power support space-constrained racks. Buyers who need more than two processors, GPU acceleration, NVMe-only storage or a deeper chassis for additional drive bays should evaluate other form factors.

Eight-Bay 2.5-Inch SATA Front Storage

The server provides eight 2.5-inch front drive bays wired for SATA and SAS with the installed H745 RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. The current loadout uses eight 1.92TB SATA SSDs. If the workload requires NVMe U.2/U.3 drives, a different backplane and controller combination is required.
