Compact 1U rack server for dense compute

The Dell PowerEdge R650xs fits two Intel Xeon Silver 4314 processors at 2.4 GHz with 16 cores each into a single rack unit, delivering 32 total cores for virtualization and data-analytics workloads. 256 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across eight 32 GB modules supports large working sets while the PERC H745 controller with 4 GB NV cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Eight 960 GB SATA SSDs provide high-speed storage in the front bays.

Hot-swap drive bays and redundant platinum power

Eight 2.5-inch front bays accept SATA, SAS or NVMe drives and the installed SSDs are hot-swappable for non-disruptive maintenance. Two 1400 W platinum-efficiency power supplies operate in redundant mode so a single unit failure does not interrupt service. An OCP 3.0 dual-port 10 GbE SFP+ card handles high-throughput networking while iDRAC 9 Enterprise gives full remote console, power control and firmware update capability. Ready Rails and a front bezel are included for standard rack mounting.

Efficient cooling in a 1U form factor

The 1U chassis uses high-speed system fans that ramp based on inlet temperature and CPU load, keeping both Xeon processors within thermal limits during sustained compute tasks. Platinum power supplies reduce waste heat and lower overall power draw compared with lower-efficiency units. Acoustic output is typical for a dense rack server and suitable for data-centre aisles; it is not designed for quiet office environments. Redundant cooling paths ensure continued operation if a single fan module fails.
