The Dell PowerEdge R730 arrives as a 2U rack-mount system populated with two Intel Xeon E5-2698 v3 processors running at 2.3 GHz. Each CPU contributes sixteen cores and a 40 MB cache, giving thirty-two threads for virtualisation hosts, database nodes or heavy compute workloads. The platform ships with the maximum supported 768 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory already installed across the twenty-four DIMM slots. It is aimed at IT teams that need dense, multi-threaded capacity in a standard rack footprint.

Eight 3.5-inch drive bays and PERC H730

The chassis provides eight hot-swap 3.5-inch bays wired to a Dell PERC H730 SAS controller with SATA support, so you can populate the server with the exact mix of hard drives or SSDs your workload demands. Dual 495 W power supplies deliver redundancy for continuous operation. Networking is handled by an Intel I350 and X540 combination that presents two 10 GbE and two 1 GbE ports, while iDRAC8 Enterprise gives full out-of-band management for remote firmware updates, console access and health monitoring.

No drives installed, rails optional

The unit ships without storage drives, allowing you to select capacity and endurance ratings that match your application rather than accepting a pre-chosen set. A rail kit is available on request for tool-less rack mounting. Every system undergoes BIOS and firmware updates to the latest stable release, followed by a full diagnostic burn-in and visual inspection before it leaves the facility.
