The Dell PowerEdge R730xd 24SFF fits two Xeon E5-2699 v4 processors and 384 GB of DDR4 ECC memory into a 2U rack chassis. Twenty-four 2.5-inch drive bays and a PERC H730 SAS controller give storage-heavy workloads room to grow. Integrated iDRAC8 Enterprise enables remote lifecycle management without a dedicated console.

Dual 1100 W supplies share the load

Redundant 1100 W power supplies keep the system running during a single-module failure. The 22-core CPUs run at a base 2.2 GHz with 55 MB cache each, drawing significant power under full utilisation. Fan speeds ramp with inlet temperature, so acoustic output rises in dense rack rows but remains within typical data-centre limits.

iDRAC8 Enterprise unlocks automation

The bundled Enterprise licence adds virtual console, virtual media and full scripting APIs that the Express edition lacks. Four onboard network ports — two 10 GbE and two 1 GbE — connect management and production traffic without extra cards. Rails are available on request, and the chassis ships without drives so you can populate only the capacity you need.
