The Dell PowerEdge R730xd is a 2U rack server built for midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, e-commerce platforms, virtual desktop infrastructure, databases or high-performance computing nodes. Dual Xeon processors and massive memory capacity handle parallel workloads without bottlenecking storage throughput.

Two Intel Xeon E5-2660 v4 14-core CPUs at 2.0 GHz with 3.2 GHz turbo deliver 28 total cores. Sixteen 32 GB DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC modules fill 16 of 24 slots, leaving room to grow toward the 1.5 TB maximum. The PERC H730 1 GB controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through across twelve hot-swap 3.5" SAS/SATA trays. A quad-port daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links, while iDRAC8 Enterprise provides dedicated remote management. Redundant 750 W platinum power supplies and sliding rails with bezel complete the chassis.

Dual 750 W platinum-efficiency units share the load, reducing waste heat and providing failover if one module fails. The 2U form factor directs front-to-rear airflow across both CPU sockets, memory banks and the storage backplane, keeping thermals stable during sustained database or HPC runs.
