The PowerEdge R730xd fits two Xeon E5-2680 v4 processors, each with 14 cores at 2.4 GHz and 3.3 GHz turbo, giving 28 threads per socket for virtualisation or database tasks. It ships with 768 GB of DDR4-2400 registered ECC memory across 24 slots and supports up to 1.5 TB total. The 2U chassis holds 24 front-access 2.5-inch drive bays, making it suited to environments that need local capacity alongside compute.

PERC H730 controller and quad-port networking

A Dell PERC H730 1 GB mini controller provides RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through, backed by a battery for write-cache protection. Two 400 GB SATA SSDs are pre-installed for boot or caching. An Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports on a single low-profile bracket. iDRAC 8 Enterprise enables remote power control, console redirection and firmware updates without physical access.

Redundant platinum power

Dual 750 W platinum-efficiency supplies are hot-swappable and share load, so one can be replaced while the server runs. Ready Rails mount the 2U unit in standard four-post racks without tools, and the front bezel snaps on for a clean appearance. All drive bays, power supplies and fans are accessible from the front or rear, allowing component swaps without unplugging cables or sliding the chassis out.
