The Dell PowerEdge R740 arrives fully assembled with a single Intel Gold 6132 processor running at 2.6GHz across 14 cores and 64GB of DDR4 memory configured as four 16GB modules at 2666 MT/s. Four 960GB SAS SSDs are installed behind the H730P RAID controller, giving immediate storage capacity. iDRAC9 Enterprise provides comprehensive remote management from day one.

Dense drive bay layout with redundant power

The 2U chassis offers eight 2.5-inch drive bays, leaving four bays free for future expansion beyond the factory-installed SSDs. An 1100W redundant power supply is fitted, and rails plus power cords are included for standard rack mounting. Network connectivity uses an Intel X550 adapter delivering two 10Gb RJ45 ports and two 1Gb RJ45 ports. No optical drive is present, maximising internal space for storage or PCIe cards.
