Purpose-built 2U rack server

This Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 is a new 2U rack server designed for virtualization, database and general compute workloads. It ships with dual Intel Silver 4210R processors, 64 GB DDR4 memory and four 120 GB SATA RI SSDs. The system includes an H730P RAID controller, iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management and redundant 1100 W power supplies.

Dual 10-core Silver 4210R CPUs

Two Intel Silver 4210R processors run at 2.4 GHz with 13.75 MB cache each, providing twenty cores total. The 64 GB DDR4 is populated as four 16 GB PC4-2666 modules, leaving additional DIMM slots open for expansion. Four 2.5-inch drive bays are occupied by the included SSDs, while four bays remain free for extra storage.

Eight PCIe Gen 3 slots and dual 10 GbE

Up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots accommodate GPU, networking or storage add-in cards. The integrated Intel X550 NDC delivers two 10 Gb RJ45 and two 1 Gb RJ45 ports for high-speed connectivity. No optical drive is fitted, freeing internal space. Rails, bezel and power cords are included for immediate rack deployment.
