The Dell PowerEdge R740 chassis fits eight 3.5-inch drive bays and ships with two Xeon Silver 4214 processors running at 2.2GHz. Each CPU provides 12 cores and 16.5MB cache, giving 24 cores total for virtualisation or database tasks. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed, with headroom to reach 3TB. The PERC H730P RAID controller manages SATA drives, and an integrated GPU handles basic video output.

Rack-mount chassis with redundant power and remote

The 36 by 24 by 10 inch rack-mount enclosure weighs 40 units and includes two 750W power supplies for redundancy. A 10GbE two-port 562T adapter provides high-speed networking, while iDRAC9 Enterprise enables full out-of-band management. Drive bays and the RAID controller are accessible from the front, simplifying drive swaps without removing the server from the rack. Rails are available on request for easier installation.

No drives included; firmware current

Storage drives are not installed, so buyers select capacity and redundancy to match the workload. BIOS and firmware are updated to the latest stable version before shipment, and each unit passes full diagnostics and burn-in testing. The PERC H730P and iDRAC9 Enterprise licence are ready to configure on first boot. Memory type is DDR4 only; other generations are not compatible.
