Dual Silver 4210R 10-core CPUs

The PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Silver 4210R processors, each running at 2.4 GHz with ten cores and 13.75 MB cache. It ships with 128 GB of DDR4 memory across eight 16 GB modules. Six 480 GB SATA SSDs are installed and managed by an H730P RAID controller. The system targets organisations that need dense compute and storage in a standard rack footprint.

1100 W redundant PSU and iDRAC9 Enterprise

Dual 1100 W power supplies provide redundancy for continuous operation. The iDRAC9 Enterprise module gives full remote management including virtual console, power control and hardware monitoring without needing the host OS. Front-to-rear airflow across the 2U chassis keeps thermals stable under typical workloads while the redundant fans maintain uptime if a single unit fails.

Eight 2.5-inch bays with six populated

The chassis offers eight 2.5-inch drive bays; six are filled with the supplied SSDs leaving two bays open for expansion. Up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots support additional network cards, accelerators or storage controllers. The integrated Intel X550 adapter delivers two 10 Gb RJ45 and two 1 Gb RJ45 ports for flexible networking. No optical drive is fitted, freeing internal space and power budget for other devices.
