The Dell PowerEdge R740xd2 is a 2U rackmount server built for high-capacity storage deployments. Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6154 processors deliver 36 total cores at 3.0 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory supports reliable operation. Twenty-six 8 TB 7.2K SATA drives provide massive raw capacity in a dense form factor.

26-bay 3.5-inch drive configuration

The chassis holds twenty-six 3.5-inch drives served by a Dell PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache. The controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through modes. All drives are 7.2K SATA 6 Gb/s enterprise models. This bay count and drive interface define the storage density and throughput ceiling for software-defined storage or backup repositories.

Dual 1100 W platinum power supplies

Two hot-swap 1100 W platinum-efficiency power supplies deliver redundant power. Integrated iDRAC 9 Enterprise enables full remote monitoring, firmware updates and console access without an operating system. Networking includes a dual-port 1 GbE LOM and a Broadcom 57414 dual-port 10/25 Gb SFP28 OCP 2.0 mezzanine card. Front bezel and ready rails are not included.
