This unit ships with both 12-core CPUs installed and 64GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across four modules. The chassis provides 16 hot-swap 2.5-inch drive bays, though only eight drive trays are included, and the PERC HBA330 controller handles SAS and SATA connectivity.

Expands from single-socket or smaller bays

Moving from a single-socket server or a chassis with fewer bays adds the second processor and doubles the core count to 24 threads, which benefits virtualization hosts and database workloads. The 16-bay layout supports growth beyond the eight trays supplied, and memory can scale to 384GB across 12 slots when application demand increases. The jump is worth it when current capacity limits concurrent VMs or storage arrays.

Standard rack rails and tray count

Installation follows normal 5U tower or rack-mount procedures, but ready rails and the front bezel are not included, so suitable mounting hardware must be sourced separately. The eight supplied trays cover half the bays; additional trays are required to populate all 16 slots. Dual 750W platinum power supplies are hot-swappable, and iDRAC 8 Express provides remote management once networked.
