Tower server for small-office workloads

The Dell PowerEdge T430 is a 5U tower server built for small-office and remote-office workloads such as file, print, mail and web serving. Two Intel Xeon E5-2650 v4 processors provide 24 cores at 2.2 GHz with 2.9 GHz turbo. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 registered ECC memory across four 16 GB modules support virtualization and database tasks. Eight 8 TB 7.2K SATA drives deliver 64 TB of raw storage managed by a PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache.

Dual 750 W platinum supplies

Redundant hot-swap 750 W platinum power supplies keep the system running if one unit fails. The 5U chassis uses front-to-rear airflow to cool both CPUs, memory, drives and the RAID card under typical office loads. Integrated Broadcom 5720 dual-port 1 GbE LOM handles network traffic without a discrete NIC. iDRAC 8 Express provides out-of-band remote management for monitoring temperatures and power draw from anywhere.

Twelve DIMM slots and eight 3.5-inch bays for growth

The C610 chipset offers twelve DDR4 slots, allowing expansion up to 384 GB when workloads demand more memory. Eight 3.5-inch drive bays are fully populated with the 8 TB drives but can accept larger SATA or SAS disks when the PERC H730 is configured for pass-through or additional RAID levels. Two processor sockets are already filled, so CPU upgrades require replacing the existing Xeon E5-2650 v4 units. A front bezel is included for a clean office appearance.
