The Dell PowerEdge T430 is a 5U tower system configured with two Intel Xeon E5-2620 v4 processors running at 2.1 GHz with a 3.0 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 2133 MHz registered ECC memory across four populated slots and a Dell PERC H730 1 GB controller managing eight 4 TB 7.2K SATA hard drives. Dual 750 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC 8 Express remote management are included.

Suited for small-office workloads

This server targets workgroup collaboration, mail, messaging, file and print serving, and web serving in small or remote offices. It is not for buyers who require rack-mount rails, solid-state storage, more than 384 GB of memory, 10 GbE networking out of the box, or GPU compute capability. The 12 memory slots allow expansion to 384 GB, and the integrated Broadcom 5720 dual-port 1 GbE LOM handles basic network needs.

Storage capacity decides fit

The eight 3.5-inch drive bays are fully populated with 4 TB SATA drives, delivering 32 TB of raw capacity under the H730 controller with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through support. Buyers needing a different drive count, larger individual drives, or a controller without battery-backed cache should look at another configuration.
