Server purpose and audience

The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U rack server built for virtualization, database hosting and file storage workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4116 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with a 3.0 GHz turbo frequency and 12 cores per socket. The system includes 256 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across eight 32 GB modules and a PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache. Four 960 GB SATA SSDs are pre-installed in the 16-bay 2.5-inch chassis.

Storage and interface limits

The server provides sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays that accept both SAS and SATA media. The PERC H730P controller supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 as well as pass-through mode. Network connectivity is limited to two integrated 1 GbE ports. Memory capacity can be expanded to 1 TB using the sixteen available DDR4 slots. The power supply consists of two redundant 750 W platinum-efficiency units.
