The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server configured with dual Intel Xeon Silver 4210 processors running at 2.2GHz with 3.2GHz turbo. Twenty 10-core CPUs provide forty threads for virtualization hosts, database engines, or file services. The system ships with 256GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across eight 32GB modules and a PERC H730P RAID controller with 2GB cache. Eight 2.5-inch hot-swap drive trays are installed in the sixteen-bay chassis.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Dual 750-watt platinum power supplies operate in redundant mode to maintain uptime during continuous operation. The H730P controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60 for data protection under heavy I/O. DDR4 ECC memory corrects single-bit errors that accumulate during long-running workloads. iDRAC 9 Express provides remote monitoring of thermals and power without host OS dependency. The sixteen-bay chassis allows storage expansion without service interruption.

Installation Notes

The server arrives without front bezel or ready rails; rack mounting requires a separate conversion kit. CPU sockets are LGA 3647 and already populated to the two-processor maximum. Sixteen DDR4 slots accept registered ECC modules up to 1TB total capacity. Drive trays use standard 2.5-inch SAS or SATA carriers; no drives are included. Dual 1GbE ports provide baseline connectivity; additional networking needs a PCIe card.
