Dell SC400 12-bay expansion array

This Dell SC400 is a 2U rack-mount storage expansion array populated with twelve 8 TB 7.2K SAS 4Kn drives. It adds raw capacity to an existing Dell EMC Compellent environment through dual 2X93X SAS EMM modules. The unit ships with a 600 W redundant power supply, bezel and power cords. It is sold new and not eligible for export.

Upgrade from direct-attached or smaller JBOD

The array replaces direct-attached shelves or smaller JBODs that have run out of bays or lack dual-path SAS connectivity. The jump is worth it when you need twelve 3.5-inch bays with multipath redundancy and 12 Gbps SAS links to the controller head. It does not serve workloads that require integrated compute, file protocols or all-flash performance.

Verify controller head compatibility and SAS cabling

Confirm that your Compellent controller head supports the 2X93X EMM modules and has free SAS ports for the expansion cables. Check rack depth and power distribution for a 2U chassis with redundant supplies. Ensure the storage operating system can recognise 4Kn SAS drives before adding the array.
