This EN-Labs add-on card converts an available PCI Express 3.0 x4 slot into a single USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C port rated at 20Gbps. It targets desktop builders who need one high-speed external connection for fast SSDs or HDDs without replacing their motherboard. The card fits x1, x4, x8 and x16 slots and uses the ASMEDIA ASM3242 controller. Driver-free operation is provided for Windows 10 and 11.

Full-profile and low-profile brackets included

Both bracket heights ship in the box so the card works in standard towers and slim cases alike. A SATA 15-pin power connector draws auxiliary current directly from the power supply, ensuring stable 20Gbps transfers under load. No extra software or cables are required beyond the SATA lead. The hardware presents a single rear Type-C port only.

PCIe 3.0 bandwidth limits sustained throughput

The x4 PCI Express 3.0 link caps total bandwidth below the port’s theoretical 20Gbps maximum, so real-world speeds with the fastest drives will be lower. The XHCI 1.0 host controller handles protocol duties but does not overcome the bus ceiling. Older Windows versions such as XP, Vista and 7 need manual driver installation. Buyers who want multiple high-speed ports or full 20Gbps saturation should look elsewhere.
