Check for a free PCI Express x1

Verify that the motherboard has an open PCI Express x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot compatible with PCIe 2.0 or 3.0 signalling. The host system must run Windows 7, 8, 10, 11, macOS 10.8.2 or later, or a Linux distribution such as Ubuntu or unRAID. Windows 7 requires a manual driver install from the supplied CD, while newer Windows, macOS and Linux releases recognise the card automatically. No Thunderbolt devices are supported on the USB-C ports.

A driver CD is included for Windows 7 installations where the operating system does not load the RENESAS/VLI USB 3.0 driver natively.
