Extreme AP305C Wi-Fi 6 Access Point

The Extreme AP305C is a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 wireless access point designed for indoor and industrial environments. It delivers concurrent speeds up to 2.4 Gbps across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands using 2x2 MU-MIMO with two spatial streams. Integrated Bluetooth LE and Zigbee radios support IoT and proximity services. Power over Ethernet simplifies deployment by removing the need for separate AC power lines.

Installation and Common Issues

The unit connects via a single 1000Base-T Ethernet port and draws up to 16.28 W through PoE, so the switch must supply adequate power budget. A USB 2.0 interface is available for peripheral use. DSSS and OFDM modulation reduce interference, but dense radio environments can still limit throughput. Ensure the PoE injector or switch port meets the power requirement before mounting.

Wi-Fi 6 Practical Limits

Wi-Fi 6 improves efficiency in crowded spaces, yet real-world throughput depends on client capabilities, channel width and physical obstructions. The 2.4 Gbps figure represents a theoretical maximum under ideal conditions; actual speeds will be lower. Legacy 802.11n/ac devices will connect but cannot use Wi-Fi 6 features such as OFDMA or target wake time.
