This 2U rackmount server chassis fits a standard 19-inch rack and holds eight 3.5-inch hot-swap drive bays supporting SAS and SATA drives at 6Gb/s. It is built from 1.0 mm SGCC zinc-coated steel and accommodates motherboards up to 12 by 10.5 inches with seven full-height expansion slots.

Installation and common issues

The chassis mounts in a 19-inch rack using its 437.5 mm width and 560 mm depth, with a height of 88 mm. Drive trays slide into the backplane for tool-less hot-swap changes, while the optional slim optical bay accepts 2.5-inch drives. Builders must source a 2U power supply separately, as none is included, and should verify motherboard mounting points align with the 12-inch maximum depth.

Backplane speed and expansion limits

The supplied backplane delivers 6Gb/s over SATA or mini-SAS links, with a 12Gb/s mini-SAS variant also noted as available. This caps drive throughput at the interface rate, so faster SAS or SATA drives will negotiate down to 6Gb/s. Seven full-height PCI/PCIe slots provide add-in card room, but the two front USB 2.0 ports limit peripheral speed to that standard unless the optional USB 3.0 upgrade is fitted.
