Dense 1U compute platform

The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 is a 1U rack server built for environments where rack space is at a premium. It ships with two Xeon E5-2620 v3 processors running at 2.4GHz, providing 24 threads for virtualised workloads. The system includes 64GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots and two 500GB 7.2K SATA drives managed by the B140i software RAID controller. Dual 500W redundant power supplies are fitted as standard.

Sustained multi-thread throughput

Under continuous load the dual six-core processors maintain their 2.4GHz base frequency across all 12 physical cores. The 2400MT/s DDR4 subsystem feeds data without bottlenecks for memory-bound tasks such as database caching or compilation jobs. The B140i controller handles RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 on the SATA drives, so write-heavy workloads see consistent throughput limited only by the 6Gbps SATA interface. Hyper-threading doubles the logical thread count to 24 for parallel batch processing.

Thermal and acoustic profile

The 1U chassis uses high-speed fans to move air across both CPUs, the memory banks and the drive cage. At typical utilisation the fans run at elevated speed, producing noticeable airflow noise suited to a server room rather than an office. The redundant 500W power supplies share the load, improving efficiency and allowing one unit to fail without shutdown. Power draw scales with CPU utilisation and the number of populated drive bays.
