This 1U rack server ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2670v3 processors, each providing twelve cores at 2.3 GHz for a total of twenty-four physical cores. Hyper-threading doubles the thread count to forty-eight. The Intel C610 chipset and twenty-four DDR4 DIMM slots support up to 3 TB of ECC registered memory. Redundant hot-swap 500 W power supplies keep the platform running during a module failure.

Fits dense virtualisation and database clusters.

The server targets workloads that need many CPU threads in a single rack unit, such as virtualisation hosts, database nodes or high-performance computing jobs. Eight gigabytes of installed memory is a starting point; buyers planning large memory footprints must budget for additional DDR4 modules. The Matrox G200 graphics controller provides only basic console output, so the system is unsuitable for GPU-accelerated workloads or graphical workstations.

Smart HBA H240ar RAID controller

Storage connects through the HP Smart HBA H240ar, a 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA controller that supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. The chassis holds four large-form-factor 3.5-inch drive bays; two bays are populated with 4 TB 7.2 K rpm SAS drives. The remaining two bays and the controller’s extra ports allow further SAS or SATA expansion without adding a separate RAID card.
