The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 occupies 2U of rack space and ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor running at 2.4 GHz. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across the 24 available DIMM slots, leaving room to scale toward the platform maximum. Two 300 GB 15K SAS drives provide low-latency storage for operating systems or transactional databases.

Redundant power and twelve large-form-factor drive

Dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies deliver N+1 redundancy without shutting down the chassis. The Smart HBA H240ar controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across twelve 3.5-inch SAS bays, with optional rear cages available for additional capacity. Twelve-gigabit SAS and six-gigabit SATA links give flexibility when mixing drive types in the same array.

Efficient cooling in a dense 2U form factor

The 2U chassis uses redundant fans that adjust speed based on inlet temperature and component load, keeping the Xeon processor and 15K drives within thermal limits during sustained workloads. Power draw scales with the single CPU configuration and installed memory, allowing the 500 W supplies to operate well within their efficiency band. Acoustic output remains suitable for standard server-room environments rather than office deployment.
