This 2U rack server ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2643 v3 six-core processor running at 3.4 GHz and 32 GB of DDR4 memory. It includes two 1 TB 7.2K SATA drives managed by the B140i software RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10. The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays and dual 500 W redundant hot-swap power supplies. It is suited for virtualisation hosts, database nodes or general-purpose compute clusters.

Sustained load behaviour

The B140i controller handles RAID parity calculations in software, so sustained write throughput depends on the host CPU rather than a dedicated hardware engine. With two 7.2K SATA drives in a mirrored or parity array, sequential writes will be limited by the mechanical spindle speed and the software RAID overhead. The dual 500 W supplies share load evenly and maintain operation if one unit fails. Memory runs at speeds up to 2400 MT/s determined by the installed processor.

Compatibility checks

Verify that your rack provides 2U of vertical space and sufficient depth for the chassis. Ensure the facility can deliver redundant power circuits to match the dual supplies. The B140i controller supports SATA drives only; SAS or NVME devices require a different controller. Memory expansion uses 24 DIMM slots with ECC registered DDR4 modules up to 64 GB each. No operating system is included.
