This kit delivers two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors, each with 16 cores running at 2.10 GHz and a 3.70 GHz turbo frequency. It includes 512GB of DDR4-2666MHz ECC memory across 16 modules and 61.44TB of enterprise SATA SSD storage in eight 7.68TB drives. The bundle targets administrators refreshing PowerEdge R540, R640, R740, R740xd, T440 or T640 platforms.

Upgrade From Older Dual-Socket Nodes

The matched pair replaces a previous generation of dual-socket CPUs when workloads demand higher core counts and larger memory capacity. The jump is worth it for virtualization clusters that need more simultaneous instances or for databases that benefit from the 61.44TB flash array. Systems already running at maximum supported memory or storage density will not gain capacity from this kit.

Installation Notes For Compatible Chassis

Thermal paste is supplied so the two processors can be seated immediately onto the existing socket brackets. Memory population follows the 16-module layout across the supported channels. Drive bays must accept eight 7.68TB SATA SSDs and a RAID controller configured for 24/7 operation. The kit does not fit servers outside the listed PowerEdge models.
