Practical limits of the USB 3.0 interface

The adapters operate at USB 3.0 data transfer speeds of 5Gbps. When the host computer also supports UASP, transfer performance can be up to 70% faster than conventional USB 3.0. The cables draw power directly from the USB port, so they only work with 2.5" drives; 3.5" drives that require external power are not supported. Actual throughput will vary depending on the drive and the host controller.

Single specification that decides fit

The only drive form factor supported is 2.5" SATA. If you need to connect a 3.5" desktop drive, an M.2 drive or any interface other than SATA, these adapters will not work. Buyers who require support for larger drives or different interfaces must choose a different solution.
