16MP Autofocus Camera Module

The KEHIPI IMX519 is a 16 megapixel autofocus camera module built around the Sony IMX519 sensor. It targets Raspberry Pi developers and IoT edge builders who need higher resolution than the standard V2 camera and want autofocus without manual lens adjustment. The board matches the V1 and V2 footprint so it drops into existing enclosures and mounts.

Upgrade from fixed-focus Pi cameras

This module replaces the official Pi Camera V2 and the fixed-focus HQ camera in projects that demand sharper detail and flexible focusing. The jump is worth it when your application needs 16 megapixel stills, continuous autofocus or manual focus control, and you are running a supported OS such as Bullseye, Bookworm or Trixie. It does not support legacy Raspbian images and requires a one-time script configuration before first use.

Resolution headroom and integration limits

The 16 megapixel sensor comfortably handles detailed inspection, object recognition and high-quality streaming tasks that overwhelm 8 megapixel fixed-focus modules. Headroom runs out when the host board cannot supply the required MIPI CSI bandwidth or when the project depends on Raspbian, which this camera does not support. The package includes a 15cm FPC cable; longer runs need a separate extension kit.
