The Lenovo ThinkPad P52 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built around a six-core Intel Core i7-8850H processor that reaches 4.3 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 2400 memory and a 256 GB solid-state drive. The 1920 x 1080 IPS display is non-touch and anti-glare. NVIDIA Quadro P1000 graphics with 4 GB dedicated memory handle professional 3D and CAD workloads. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed.

Installation and service notes

Memory and storage are accessed by removing the bottom cover, a routine procedure for this chassis. The two SO-DIMM slots support DDR4 2400 modules and the M.2 slot accepts a 2280 solid-state drive. Take care when disconnecting the battery cable before any internal work. The fingerprint reader and webcam privacy cover are integrated into the palm rest and display bezel respectively and do not require separate driver installation beyond the standard Windows 10 Pro image.

Thunderbolt 3 and display limits

A single Thunderbolt 3 port provides 40 Gbps data transfer and can drive external displays up to the resolution supported by the connected monitor and cable. The Quadro P1000 drives the internal 1920 x 1080 panel and can output to additional screens through the Thunderbolt 3 or HDMI connections. Total concurrent display count depends on the GPU capabilities and the bandwidth available over the Thunderbolt 3 link.
