24X CD-R burner for legacy systems

The Lite-On LTR-24102B is a 5.25-inch internal CD burner with a beige tray-loading front panel. It writes CD-R media at 24X and CD-RW media at 10X while reading pressed CDs at 40X. The ATAPI/E-IDE interface suits older desktop computers running Windows 95 through Windows 2000.

SMART-BURN and SMART-X technologies included

SMART-BURN prevents buffer underrun errors and automatically adjusts the writing strategy for the inserted CD-R or CD-RW disc. SMART-X enables high-speed digital audio extraction and VCD data extraction. The drive also supports over-burning up to 99-minute discs and multiple write modes including TAO, SAO, DAO and raw mode.

ATAPI/E-IDE limits transfer speed and compatibility

The parallel ATAPI/E-IDE interface caps sustained throughput well below modern serial bus speeds and requires a motherboard with a compatible 40-pin connector. No driver support exists for operating systems newer than Windows 2000, so the drive cannot be used on current Windows, macOS or Linux releases without legacy emulation.
