Portable NVMe Enclosure at 20 Gbps

The Orico USB 3.2 Gen2x2 enclosure turns a single M.2 NVMe SSD into an external drive with a 20 Gbps USB Type-C interface. Theoretical speeds reach 2000 MB/s while lab tests recorded 1875.41 MB/s read and 1874.02 MB/s write. An all-aluminium body with CNC-cut fins and a wrap-around cooling vest manages heat during sustained transfers. A supplied 2-in-1 cable provides both USB-C to C at 20 Gbps and USB-C to A at 10 Gbps connectivity.

For NVMe Drives Only — Not SATA

Builders with M.2 PCIe NVMe drives in 2280 size using M-key or B+M-key pinouts can use this enclosure. It does not support M.2 SATA SSDs, M.2 PCIe AHCI SSDs or other M.2 PCIe devices. Users needing to connect multiple drives simultaneously or requiring SATA protocol compatibility should consider a different solution. The single-bay design limits operation to one NVMe module at a time.

Check Host Port and Drive Keying

Verify that the host system offers a USB 3.2 Gen2x2 or USB4 port to reach the advertised 20 Gbps rate; slower ports will reduce throughput. Confirm the SSD is an NVMe model in 2280 form factor with M-key or B+M-key layout before ordering. The enclosure supports capacities up to 4 TB and includes UASP, TRIM and SMART passthrough plus a 10-minute smart sleep function. An LED indicates power and activity status.
