OWC 1 TB ECC LRDIMM kit

This OWC upgrade kit supplies one terabyte of DDR4 ECC load-reduced memory in four 256 GB modules. It is built for the HP SimpliVity 380 Gen10 and other server, workstation or NAS platforms that require PC4-25600 3200 MHz CL22 288-pin LRDIMMs. The kit will not work in standard desktop computers and cannot be mixed with unbuffered or registered ECC DIMMs.

Installation and common issues

Each module installs in a standard 288-pin DDR4 slot at 1.2 V. The load-reduced design reduces electrical load on the memory bus, but the system must explicitly support LRDIMM technology or the server will not post. Mixing these sticks with registered or unbuffered ECC memory prevents boot, and consumer motherboards lack the required memory controller.

Capacity headroom and limits

Four 256 GB modules deliver 1 TB total capacity, suited for large virtualisation clusters, in-memory databases or heavy container workloads. The kit runs at 3200 MHz and steps down to 2133, 2400, 2666 or 2933 MHz when the platform demands it. Workloads that exceed 1 TB per CPU socket or require registered DIMMs instead of load-reduced modules cannot use this kit.
