Compact 16-key macro pad for streamers and coders
The Pimoroni Keybow 2040 is a 4x4 grid of low-profile mechanical keys powered by the RP2040 microcontroller. Each key sits in a hot-swap Kailh socket and is lit by per-key RGB LEDs driven by an IS31FL3731 driver. It connects and is programmed over USB-C, offering 2 MB of flash storage for firmware and macros. The board includes dedicated BOOTSEL and reset buttons for easy mode switching.
Check USB-C port and software environment before
Your computer must provide a free USB-C port or a suitable adapter for power and data. The device appears as a mass-storage drive when the BOOTSEL button is held, so the operating system must support USB mass storage without special drivers. You will need a Python or CircuitPython workflow to write and deploy custom key mappings, lighting effects or MIDI scripts. No additional hardware is required beyond the host machine.
Fits on any desk and frees keyboard shortcuts
The all-in-one PCB measures roughly a palm-wide footprint, leaving ample space beside a full-size keyboard or on a stream deck shelf. Hot-swap sockets let you choose clicky, linear or tactile Cherry MX-compatible switches without soldering. Per-key RGB lighting provides visual feedback for OBS scenes, Ableton clips or Photoshop macros. The board draws power directly from USB-C, so no external supply or separate microcontroller is needed.
