Installers must verify that the backplane supports 6 Gb/s SAS signalling; older 3 Gb/s backplanes will limit throughput. No additional mounting hardware or firmware updates are required beyond the server’s normal drive-detection routine.

Sustained workloads benefit from the 10000 RPM spindle and SAS dual-port architecture, which maintains queue depth during heavy multi-threaded access.
