This Silicon Power enterprise SSD delivers 1TB of storage over a PCIe Gen 3x4 NVMe 1.3 connection. The M.2 2280 form factor fits laptops, small-form-factor PCs and compatible ultrabooks. Sequential reads reach 2,200MB/s and writes reach 1,600MB/s for responsive data access. The drive is supplied new and includes access to the SP ToolBox monitoring utility.

Who it suits and who should look elsewhere

Builders upgrading an NVMe-capable M.2 slot gain fast, reliable storage with LDPC ECC, end-to-end data protection and a RAID engine for integrity. SLC caching and Host Memory Buffer support sustain performance under mixed workloads. Buyers whose systems lack an M.2 PCIe slot or who need capacities beyond 2TB cannot use this drive. Shoppers requiring a 2.5-inch or U.2 form factor should consider other products.

Deciding specification

The PCIe Gen 3x4 NVMe 1.3 interface determines compatibility; the host must provide an M.2 2280 key-M slot wired for PCIe. Without that slot the drive will not function, regardless of its 1TB capacity or 2,200MB/s read speed.
