Quad-socket Xeon server

The Supermicro SYS-8048B-TRFT is a 4U rack server populated with four Intel Xeon E7-4850 v2 processors running at 2.3 GHz with 2.8 GHz turbo. Each CPU provides 12 cores for a total of 48 threads across the platform. The system ships with 3 TB of DDR3 1600 MHz registered ECC memory installed across 96 DIMM slots. It is built for compute-intensive and storage-demanding enterprise workloads.

24 hot-swap bays and expansion

Twenty-four front-accessible 3.5-inch SATA or SAS hot-plug drive bays provide high-capacity internal storage without external enclosures. The MegaRAID 9361-8i controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with 1 GB cache and battery backup. Eleven PCIe 3.0 slots, including four x16 and seven x8, allow additional networking, storage or acceleration cards. Dual 10GBase-T ports on the Intel X540 controller handle high-throughput networking.

Remote management and power

IPMI 2.0 with a dedicated RJ45 port enables KVM-over-LAN and virtual media for lights-out administration. Four 1620 W platinum-efficiency hot-swap power supplies deliver redundant power for continuous operation. The Matrox G200 graphics chip with 8 MB video memory provides basic console output. Front bezel and rack-mount rails are not included and must be sourced separately.
