360° Outdoor Pan/Tilt Camera

The TP-Link Tapo C520WS is a wireless 2K QHD security camera built for exterior mounting. It captures 4 MP video at up to 2560 x 1440 resolution and 30 fps using a 1/3" CMOS sensor. The 3.18 mm F1.61 lens delivers a 360° horizontal and 130° vertical field of view. It connects via 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and uses 128-bit AES encryption with SSL/TLS for data protection. Two-way audio allows communication through the built-in microphone and speaker.

Upgrade from Fixed 1080p Units

This camera replaces static 1080p models that cannot follow motion or cover wide areas without blind spots. The motorised pan/tilt mechanism tracks moving objects automatically across the full 360° range. The jump is worthwhile when you need colour detail after dark without adding separate floodlights. Starlight colour night vision and 850 nm IR LEDs provide visibility up to 98 ft in three selectable modes. Local microSD storage up to 512 GB removes recurring cloud fees for many installations.

Simple Wireless Mounting

Installation requires only a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal and a power source at the mounting location; no Ethernet cabling is needed. The camera pairs through the Tapo app using standard TCP/IP, HTTPS and DNS protocols. Common issues include insufficient 2.4 GHz coverage at the mounting height, microSD cards exceeding 512 GB or formatted incorrectly, and IR reflection from nearby walls or eaves that washes out night footage. Ensure the lens has a clear 360° sweep before finalising the bracket position.
