The WaveShare ADS1263 HAT adds a 10-channel 32-bit analogue-to-digital converter to Raspberry Pi and Jetson Nano boards. It targets engineers and hobbyists who need low-noise, low-drift data acquisition for sensor arrays or instrumentation projects. The onboard ADS1263 chip provides a maximum sampling rate of 38.4kSPS with an embedded 24-bit auxiliary ADC.

Installation Considerations

The HAT connects through the standard 40-pin GPIO header using the SPI bus, so no extra wiring is required for basic operation. Differential input channels and the three-wire RTD circuit need the 0R resistor to be soldered before they become active. Aligning the header pins carefully prevents bent pins, which is the most common issue during the first fit.

Practical Interface Limits

The SPI interface caps the sustained throughput, so continuous 10-channel capture at the peak 38.4kSPS may require buffer management in software. The 2.5 V internal reference voltage sets the absolute input range unless an external reference is supplied through the screw terminals. Eight multiplexed GPIO lines are shared with the ADC functions, limiting simultaneous digital I/O while sampling.
