The MSI Z490-S01 is an ATX motherboard built around the Intel Z490 chipset and LGA 1200 socket. It supports 10th Generation Intel Core, Pentium Gold and Celeron processors for desktop systems. Dual-channel DDR4 memory runs at speeds from 2133 up to 4000 MHz with a maximum capacity of 128 GB.

PCIe 3.0 lanes and storage limits

The board provides one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot from the CPU and a second PCIe 3.0 x16 slot from the chipset that operates in x4 mode. Three additional PCIe x1 slots are available from the chipset. Storage connectivity includes two M.2 interfaces and six SATA III ports for mixed drive configurations.

Replaces older Intel 300-series boards

Moving from a 300-series chipset to Z490 adds native USB 3.2 Gen 2 10 Gbps ports on the rear panel, including one Type-A and one Type-C connector.
