The Pimoroni PIM771 NVMe Base Case is a folded aluminium enclosure designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 5. It provides a robust anodised top and bottom shell to protect the board during daily operation as a media server, Home Assistant hub or desktop computer. Fixings are included to mount an NVMe Base or NVMe Base Duo inside the case.

Storage expansion and thermal headroom

The case accommodates an NVMe Base or NVMe Base Duo, giving the Pi 5 access to high-speed solid-state storage. Generous air vents keep the drive well ventilated while an internal cut-out accepts the official Active Cooler for sustained CPU performance. The aluminium body also helps dissipate heat from the board itself.

Build integration and external controls

An external power button lets you turn the Pi on and off without opening the enclosure. Rubber feet keep the case stable on a desk or shelf and a dedicated slot routes a camera or display cable cleanly to the outside. The design leaves GPIO pins accessible for HATs or custom circuitry.
