Practical limits of the PCIe x1 interface

The x1 lane caps total throughput well below the combined 6 Gb/s per port, so four drives cannot run at full speed simultaneously. SATA revision 3.0 compliance ensures backward compatibility with SATA I and II devices. Optical drives are supported alongside hard disks and SSDs.
